Have you searched hundreds of baby boy names for help in picking out the perfect one for your family’s new addition?  Finding the right name for your baby can be loads of fun, but it can also end up being stressful.  Parents love thinking of new possible names, buying books for guidance and talking amongst friends and family for advice on the name picking.  After weeks and even months of being undecided, the stress kicks in.  What if you have the baby and you still do not have a name!?  What if you pick a name and your friends and family make fun of it?  What if you like one name and your husband likes another; how do you compromise?  Put all of the stress aside and follow these few tips on narrowing down all of the baby boy names into one perfect name for your little guy.

Step one:  First, get out a pen and a piece of paper (one for you and one for your husband) and list five names each.  You can use a baby boy names book or just your head, but right down five possible baby boy names you would want your child to have.  After you and your husband each have five, move on to the next step.

Step two:  Add your last name to each one, and then narrow your list down by which of the baby boy names sound the best.  For example John Deer would be a make-fun-of-me name, so that would be crossed off of the list.  But Michael Deer sounds good, so that one deserves a check.

Step three:  Add the middle name to each one.  Again, narrow the list down by crossing out all of the names that do not work well.  Also, pay attention to the initials.  You do not want a name with the initials of C.O.W. or D.O.G!

Step four:  Hopefully you and your husband have a favorite name in common by now.  If not, put the list away for a few days, and then get it back out.  All of the baby boy names you have running through your head may be interfering with picking out the perfect one.  Looking at it once your mind is clear may make a huge difference.

Step five:  Compromise.  Since your baby boy names list is narrowed down, compromising should be a lot easier.  Consider popularity, meaning, origin and the sound of the name when choosing.
