their child. You could even find a Tickle Me Elmo on eBay for as high as $1500! According to People Weekly Magazine, a clerk at Wal-Mart was injured during the “Elmo-mania.” A crowd of 300 people flocked through the store on December 14, 1996, competing to get the Tickle Me Elmo off of the shelf. During this rampage, the clerk suffered a pulled hamstring, concussion, broken rib, as well as back, jaw and knee injuries! This startling craze did not stop there; its popularity lives on to today. In fact, 10 years after Tickle Me Elmo was born, the T.M.X. (Tickle Me 10; Tickle Me Extreme) was unveiled to the world, making it the most popular toy of all time.
Tickle Me Elmo is covered in soft red fur and stands 14 inches tall. He is not the cuddly character your child wants to take to bed; this Elmo is all about tickles! Tickle Me Elmo has tickling spots under his chin, on his belly and on the top of his
foot. Once tickled, the Tickle Me Elmo slaps his belly, falls forward laughing and stands up only to topple backwards in laughter again, all while begging the tickler to stop. However, once you stop, Tickle Me Elmo shouts “Again! Again!” The more you tickle him the fun enhances to where he falls on the ground and slaps the floor as if laughter has completely taken over him!
