Nowadays, people throw a huge shower for the mom-to-be and spend lots of time planning the perfect shindig. I thought long and hard for the perfect baby shower favors for my sister’s shower. In the end, my hard work paid off since I heard nothing but compliments. I bought four ounce glass baby bottles and filled them with bath salts. I layered the bottles with baby blue, light pink and pale green colored salts. I then bought personalized ribbon that said “Welcome Jaxon Alan Gilbert” and tied a pretty bow at the top of each favor.

Attached to the bow was a tag that had a picture of a baby with a poem written on it. The poem thanked everyone for sharing such an important and special day. In the end the baby shower favors were beautiful. There was only one problem; it was pricey. Each favor costs around $7.00, for a total cost of $280.00. Also, although I thought the favors would be loved and kept, they were not. During the aftermath, I found plenty of baby shower favors that were left behind.

A year later, it was time to throw another baby shower for my friend. This time I searched the wonderful World Wide Web for baby shower favors already put together. I found the cutest baby shower favors that were definitely affordable. There were cardboard boxes in the shape of a cute rubber duck. Inside they were filled with pastel colored chocolates. Everyone loved them; they were a perfect baby shower favor.

So the moral of this story is, be careful when planning a shower. The cost adds up, especially when it is all said and done. From the food to the decorations, the last thing you need too add are expensive baby shower favors. Take the time to budget; you will be glad you did!
